Happy Hour: Champagne Cocktail

I love bubbles and they are always a staple on NYE!  St. Gernmain and Chambord are perfect addtions to a glass of champagne but I may be trying this recipe this weekend!

Ingredients:
3/5 glass Champagne
1/5 glass Orange flavored vodka
1/5 glass Cointreau
1 Sugar Cube

Method: Sparkling Champagne Cocktail is very easy to prepare and the first step involved in it includes mixing all the four ingredients in a champagne flute.

Next step is to garnish the prepared mixture with a slice of tangerine or cranberries. Make sure to use fresh tangerine and cranberries for garnishing for a better look of this cocktail when you will serve it.

Quantity of ingredients mentioned in this recipe are enough to serve 4 people at a time.

Have a Happy New Year and a fabulous weekend!!

Cheers,
Sara

Loves: kate spade sutton place

I have some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket and obviously I am in need of another purse...not really but you can never have enough great bags!  I am eyeing the sutton place willa at kate spade, simple and classic lines made with beautiful, soft leather. What more could a girl ask for!

I realized while writing this post that I had actually picked this bag to be include in my kate spade gift guide here.  I keep coming back to this bag...maybe it is meant to be?!?! Stay tuned...

I am having a hard time choosing a color.  What would you choose?

Going to be snacking on...

I am probably going to be eating way too much this weekend but I can't wait to be indulging in some of my favorite snacks.

Puppy Chow:
I normally start making this around Thanksgiving so I can have it all season long.  It is great to put into mason jars and give as hostess gifts.  I use this recipe here.

Chocolate-Dipped Pretzel Rods:
As you know I love the combo of salty and sweet and a chocolate covered pretzel is a staple in that category.  I plan on making my own batch tomorrow using this recipe here.

What will you be snacking on this holiday weekend?

Happy Hour: Peppermint Hot Chocolate

I am in snowy Ohio visiting family and a hot chocolate sounds like a perfect treat for today. I was first introduced to the peppermint hot chocolate at the Rue/HGTV party last weekend at lavish...I was hooked! The Peppermint Schnapps gives it a good kick.

I plan on trying this recipe:

image via

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 quart milk (skim, 2 percent or whole) or half-and-half

• 6 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped (recommended: Scharffenberger)

• 9 ounces peppermint schnapps

• Bailey’s whipped cream, for serving (recipe follows)

• 6 peppermint sticks, for serving

DIRECTIONS:
Heat 1 cup of the milk in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add chocolate, stirring constantly, until melted. When the chocolate has melted, increase heat to medium and add the remainder of the milk while whisking rapidly. Do not allow to boil.

Serve in small cups fortified with a jigger (1 1/2 ounces) of peppermint schnapps and a dollop of whipped cream. Add a peppermint stick to stir.

Bailey’s Whipped Cream

• 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

• 2 tsp. brown sugar

• 1 Tbsp. Bailey’s Irish Cream

Whip heavy cream to soft peaks. Add Baileys Irish Cream and sugar and whisk until combined and raised peaks hold their shape. Spoon a generous dollop of the whipped cream onto each cup of the hot chocolate.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Cheers,
Sara

Kate Spade Deal of the Day

I am loving the daily deal at Kate Spade of 20%!  All you have to do is find the product that the penguin picks and you will receive 20% off of that item.  If you are a fan on Facebook they will give you hints on where to look. Great job Kate Spade marketing department!

I was in their Atlanta store recently and they are continuing with the penguin theme...too cute!

I am always tempted by these great deals but I need to stay focused on buying gifts for others!!

Where is he today? (They haven't put the hint out yet!)

Lucky at lavish

A big thanks to Shameeka Ayers of The Broke Socialite for putting together such a wonderful event!

I had a fantastic time of networking, learning, making new friends and enjoyed plenty of cupcakes & cocktails!

The highlight of the weekend was the prize I won...a Nikon D90 that was donated by The Pioneer Woman.  Unfortunately she was not able to join us (maybe next year) but she knew that bloggers would truely appreciate this gift. It was on my wishlist and I so THANKFUL!

TOP 5 Highlights (other than my camera!)
  • Meeting so many bloggers and brands from around the country
  • Attending the seminar of Grace Booney, Design*Sponge founder
  • Meeting Cassandra Lavalle of Cocco & Kelley
  • Exclusive cocktail party at Pieces
  • Party thrown by Rue Magazine & HGTV
I would recommend anyone that has a blog, wants to start a blog or brands that want to build relationships with bloggers should attend lavish. An event for 2011 is in the works and will be in Atlanta. Find lavish on Facebook to stay updated.

Have you ever attended a blogger event?

I have had the Salted Caramel cupcake from Camis Cupcakes and it is amazing but this looks like a fun twist from Frosted out in CA...

I would love to try some of these little treats...

DIY: Luminaries

I was feeling crafty last week when I was preparing for my holiday party.  Growing up my parents always put out luminaries during the holiday season for parties and I thought it would be a fun decoration since my outdoor lights are not up yet.

Martha Stewart Paper Punch-found here

I thought this cut-out looked like a snowflake but could also be used all year round

I made a total of 6 luminaries in 3 different designs

About 1 cup of rice in each bag

I used larger candles instead of tea lights so they would stay lit all night and they did!

The finished product!

None of them got ruined so I saved them to use later in the season!

Have you done any holiday crafts this year? (I am always looking for more ideas!)

Wine Corks Galore

We love wine in our house and so I have a pretty large collection of wine corks.  I never really had an idea of what I was going to do with them so I just kept them in a large glass vase on the bar area. It is a great decorative piece but I would like to turn them in to something more functional.

I thought this Etsy site would be good inspiration...

Perfect for a kitchen!

Lovely for my desk!

A wreath that can stay up all year long!

A cute trivet for entertaining!

The wheels are turning!  I have seen a couple kits on online at Wine Enthusiast which I might try out first and then get a little more creative.

I am looking forward to a little holiday party that we are hosting this weekend so I am sure I will have a few more wine corks to add to the pile.

What are your weekend plans?

I love...Michaels!

I have not had time to put up my holiday decorations yet but I did stop by Michaels yesterday to pick up a few additions. I will say, they are a little over priced but always have the weekly coupons on their website here. I found a 40% of one that I used on this glass candle holder.

These little gold balls were a perfect addition to the mini cinnamon scented pine cones. I love that I can change this with the seasons and holidays.

I am not sure where this red garland will go but it adds a nice sparkle to my buffet for the time being.

I also got a Martha Stewart hole punch that I am going to be using for a project later this week so stay tuned!

Do you have your decorations up yet?

Sara
